Flower (Crown) Power…

Flower Crowns have increased in popularity enormously over the last couple of years, nudging in on the traditional bridal veil and becoming the “tiara” of the modern day bride.

Whether you are having a bohemian style wedding or not, Flower Crowns are a beautiful way to bring out every bride’s inner gypsy goddess. You can choose to have a dainty side crown, a full wreath style or simply scatter blooms throughout your up-do. Stand alone, or adorn your entire bridal party in a floral halo, the style options are endless. No matter how you choose to wear one, there is no denying that the Flower Crown is a stunning trend that looks to become a bridal classic!

I caught up with Courtney from Sorella Flower Merchant to find out her tips for brides thinking about choosing a Flower Crown for their wedding.

  1. Remember your budget. Prices for Flower Crowns range between $80 – $200 depending on the style you choose.
  2. Any variety of flowers can be hand wired to make a crown. Smaller flowers will make more fine delicate styles, while larger blooms with make fuller more boho styled crowns.
  3. The best crowns have every flower, leaf or berry individually hand wired before adding them into the crown, so chat to your florist to ensure they are experienced with the art of Flower Crowns. You want to ensure you are 100% happy.
  4. Choose flowers in a colour that will compliment your complexion. An easy way to start your search would be to remember that pastel pinks and blues suit a cooler skin tone. Plums and deep berry colours are also a gorgeous match for our cool toned brides. Warm skin tones will be enhanced by peach, apricot, ivory, earthy greens and burnt orange hues.
If you are unsure, hold a flower up to your face and look in the mirror. If your eyes sparkle then choose that flower, if you feel washed out, find another bloom.

I personally love a good Flower Crown and while I have already walked down the aisle, I’ll surely find an excuse to wear one in the future!  – Caitlin xox
