Real Weddings – Jessica and Ash

Growing up and becoming an adult often still feels surreal, particularly when you have people in your life that you’ve known since you were playing Marco Polo in the pool and Barbie’s on the family room floor. I have known Jess since she was 3 years old and can remember clear as day how awesome her and her sister Karlie’s Barbie collection was.

Fast forward 25 years and here we were on Jess’s wedding day. Walking into the house on the morning of the wedding I instantly felt the love in the room, there were hugs all round with Jess’s family and friends and her gorgeous niece Mackenzie was capturing everyone’s attention. I couldn’t be prouder of the beautiful, kind and strong woman Jess has become and I was honoured to be a part of her day.

The weather was perfect, the food was amazing and we danced the night away to 80s rock tunes. Everyone circled on the dance floor belting out Daryl Braithwaite’s “Horses” was a delight for the neighbours ears I am sure.

Come along the journey, enjoy the images below and take inspiration from the day that was Jessica and Ash’s wedding.

Venue Love… Solitaire Homestead

The South West offers so many stunning and unique wedding venues for every style, budget and taste. Being a makeup artist, we get to visit so many of these venues and fall in love time and time again. While South West brides are lucky to have so many stunning locations to choose from it can be quite overwhelming trying to decide. We wanted to help, and give you an insight into the popular Solitaire Homestead.

Solitaire Homestead is located between Yallingup and Dunsborough. The property is set on 110 acres of farmland surrounded by national parks and stunning beaches. Solitaire is a blank canvas. You have the opportunity to bring in all your preferred wedding vendors and create a wedding unique to you. Whether it be a BBQ wedding or an elaborate sit down meal, the options are endless.

We spoke with Kelly from Solitaire Homestead who shared some information and advice for future grooms and brides thinking about Solitaire for their big day.

What do you find most people fall in love with?

The most popular icon at Solitaire is the Shed. It’s a new space that we offer and it’s pretty amazing. The Shed is large enough to seat 120 people sit down and up to 200-300 Cocktail. It has a wonderful size lawn out front with large verandahs, fire pit and it even has a full apartment attached equipped with a Kitchen, Bathroom and 2 bedrooms. No one else has anything like it and it just ticks all the boxes.

What’s your favourite part about a wedding at Solitaire?

My favourite part about Solitaire are all my clients. I love working with so many different couples, all with different ideas and different tastes. Each weekend, the property transforms into something unique and special and I love that we can always change it up.

What makes Solitaire different to other venues?

Solitaire is different in many ways. We are a BYO venue, the clients choose their own caterers. The property is 110 acres offering different Ceremony spots that are separate to the Shed giving the feeling the clients have 2 locations even though no one has to leave the property. The Shed of course is what really sets us apart. Many people are looking for unique spaces to hold their receptions these days and the shed is definitely a unique space.

Any tips for brides and grooms?

My tips for the Bride and Groom are to have fun while planning your wedding. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and to talk to your suppliers. Not everything always goes to plan, and thats okay. There is always a solution.

So if you’re looking for a different yet unique wedding venue, contact Kelly from Solitaire Homestead for information.

Styled Shoot… Love in the Main Street

StyledShoot-66 (1)

The idea behind this shoot had been sitting in the back of my mind for so long. It all started with Inbal Dror’s instagram (@inbaldroroffical). Their insanely beautiful bridal gowns are shot in the street, up fire escapes and with enormous skyscrapers in the background. I fell in love with the juxtaposition of a delicate bridal gown against the concrete city environment. An obsession was born!!

Margaret River as a region is so iconic. We have many unique locations which are commonly used for wedding photos; the beach, the vineyards, the forest, caves, rocks, paddocks!! Nature blooms down here and it made me think; why not shoot a bridal scene where the region comes together – the main street. Sure we don’t have skyscrapers but we certainly have historic architecture and charm.

Caitlin Lloyd is a style wizard and she was the first person I turned too. We decided on a very modern luxe style. A sexy black tux and the hero of the shoot – Harriette Gordon’s bridal jumpsuit. Dark features such as nails, lips and blooms are a rarity in current bridal trends, which made using them all the more fun. From there we trusted Paris Hawken to bring it all together with her extraordinary photography skills.

This shoot wouldn’t have been possible without the collaborative efforts of some amazing South West vendors. We have a wedding industry filled with talent and I am so thankful for everyone who shared in the magic.

Enjoy the images!
I hope you love them as much as I do and find some inspiration; if not a new obsession!!

Wedding Planning… Sonya’s Experience

Hi, I’m Sonya! I am one the makeup artists here at Beautique Love. I recently got engaged and thought a great way to help other future brides out there would be to document my experience. Over the 18 months I will take you through my own personal wedding planning experience here in the South West. Come with me and lets do this together!

Right now my fiancé Matt and I have decided on a very casual, rustic boho wedding in November 2018. Sounds like its ages away but really in the wedding industry it’s better to be organised, rather than leaving things to the last minute and risking your preferred vendors being booked out. We have decided on a ceremony and reception venue, which can’t be booked more than a year in advance. However I now know what I want and can contact them as soon as they are ready. Some venues will book out 2 years in advance so it’s best to ask the question as soon as you find a place you love.

I started my research on the Margaret River Bride and Groom website – I went through pretty much every vendor on there and made notes of the ones I wished to contact. This included photographers, videographers, hair stylists and furniture hire. From here I looked at their websites and narrowed my search down.  I have already found 3 videographers booked for our date so I am glad I have started my research early.

My advice would be to include the groom in the planning process as much as possible and allow them to give their opinion. Nine times out of ten they might not care whether the flowers are white with touches of pink, or pink with touches of white, however you may find the groom has some unique ideas.

Matt has become involved with things more now that we have set a date. He has helped me decide on a colour scheme, he chose the ceremony venue and helped me decide on things we were going to splurge on and things we could do DIY. He was very overwhelmed at the start but now he is getting excited and just wants to be married.

Right now we are booking appointments with vendors to meet with them and chat about our ideas. We have a viewing coming up with our reception venue and I feel like things are falling in to place. I have found Pinterest to be awesome for DIY ideas however don’t plan your whole wedding with images from Pinterest. Let your day be a reflection of the two of you.

I’ll check back in with you guys in a few more months and let you know how things are going.

This is not Matt and I however, Boranup Forest is the number one pick for our ceremony venue!!

Real Weddings – Emily and Chris

Every wedding I am a part of holds a special place in my heart. I adore every bride and cannot get enough of the joy and excitement a wedding brings.

Some weddings stick in your mind for a long time and become stories retold. For me, the wedding of Emily and Chris is the perfect example.
The morning was a buzz of friends, family and pampering! Alia, Emily’s hairdresser is a family friend and she kept the room alive with wedding chatter. It was such a lovely vibe and Emily and her girls made me feel so welcome.

One moment in particular that stays with me was applying makeup to the Mother of the Bride. She hadn’t worn makeup in over 20 years and was hesitant! Even as Mum sat in my chair I could feel her body language and I made the comment “you don’t trust me, I can tell.”
This is not uncommon for Mothers of the Bride/Groom. It can be quite daunting having a professional apply makeup in a very different way, or heavier than they would apply themselves. I love this challenge and particularly love the way the right makeup can transform a mature face.
Once we finished Emily’s Mum’s makeup, she looked in the mirror and made the comment “Now I can see where Emily gets her beauty from…” She loved it and felt so beautiful, just the way a Mother of the Bride should feel on their daughters wedding day.

Those are the moments that make my job so special, and that is why I do what I do.

Caitlin xx

It’s the best way to make sure you can sit back, relax and enjoy every moment of your big day. It honestly goes so fast!

Jane Iredale – The Skincare Makeup

Who is Jane Iredale?

Jane Iredale is the president and founder of Iredale Mineral Cosmetics, a company she founded in 1994 which brought the mineral makeup line Jane Iredale to the aesthetic industry. She was the first to supply the aesthetic industry with a makeup line that had skin care benefits.

The range is dermatologist tested and hypoallergenic. With a very low minimum allergy risk, it’s ideal for all skin types and tones. Iredale Mineral Cosmetics are conscious about the effects certain ingredients can have on the skin and therefore include anti-irritant ingredients within their range. When natural preservatives are needed, they will always exclude parabens from their products.

Jane was inspired to develop the line after a career in the entertainment industry. She saw actresses and models struggling with their skin, as a result of the heavy makeup they were using. Working with these women, whose careers depended on a clear skin, allowed Jane to see how skin disorders and sensitivities not only threatened careers, but also destroyed self-confidence.

Jane has always thought of makeup as an essential part of a woman’s sense of well-being and she wanted to make that easy to achieve. That’s why her mineral powders are a foundation, powder, concealer and sunscreen all in one, and why every product in the line is multi-functional. Her goal is to make products that look good, feel good and are good for the skin. Products must be easy to apply, as well, so that a woman can be her best in the shortest amount of time.

This has had an international resonance.
The Jane Iredale brand is carried throughout Australia and world-wide in more than fifty countries.

Jane’s success in reaching women of all ages and nationalities is based on the belief that true makeup artistry comes not from trying to make a face conform to the latest fashion trends, but from enhancing the wearer’s natural beauty and, as a result, allowing her personality to shine.

Why we use Jane Iredale…

When it comes to brides discussing and showing us their makeup ideas, one thing is clear; they want to look beautiful, flawless and most of all themselves on their wedding day.

We at Beautique Love choose Jane Iredale because they invest their time in sourcing the highest quality minerals. This gives the products a soft focus effect, which gives us as makeup artists, the ability to enhance natural beauty rather than hiding it.

Jane Iredale is perfect for all skin types and has a range of colours to suit all skin tones with different undertones. Jane Iredale works perfectly on a mature skin, as it gives the skin a natural lift and glow. The pure mineral pigment provides exceptional coverage and a protective barrier on the skin that allows it to breath and function normally as it would from day to day. This means comfortable, happy skin on your wedding day!

Jane Iredale is also the perfect range for Beautique Love because they are cruelty free! Their love of animals is directed to helping all animal species worldwide and they are proud to have a CatSpa named after them. Yes thats a spa for animal cats!

We are so passionate about using the Jane Iredale makeup range for all our bridal parties and makeup clients that we also use these products on ourselves, everyday! It truly is a wonderful brand. One at we are love and are proud to use.

Real Weddings – Nikia and Paul

After a day of bridal makeup, I will always think about the bride and her wedding guests around 9:00pm. I will be preparing to head to bed (the party animal I am…) and remind myself about the amazing day that has just unfolded for the newly wed couple, and the party that is just getting started.

While my involvement in the wedding day finishes early on, looking through the photos allows me to feel like I experienced it all. Nikia and Paul’s wedding is one I definitely wish I had experienced first hand. What a gorgeous wedding celebrated with what looks like a super fun bunch of people.

Congratulations Nikia and Paul, thank you for allowing me to apart of it and all the best for the future.

Real Weddings – Beth and Claude

Every wedding for me is special, but it is extra special when you can be apart of the wedding of an old friend. I have known Beth for over ten years (now that makes me feel old), we met playing volleyball together in Perth. When she asked if I’d travel to Pemberton to do her bridal makeup I was honoured, and quickly said yes.

Beth and Claude’s chosen location – Stonebarn truly is a hidden gem. Tucked away in the middle of the Pemberton forrest, you travel three kilometres along a tiny dirt track before arriving. No phone reception and nothing but nature means you truly can have an unplugged wedding.

A beautiful day for a beautiful couple…enjoy the moments of Beth and Claude’s wedding and perhaps find inspiration for your magical day.

Get To Know… Aisle Style

When planning your big day there are many different vendors to consider. Taking away the the obvious “must haves” like your venue, celebrant, photographer and makeup artist (*wink), it can be hard to sort through your choices. We caught up with Caitlin from Aisle Style to discuss why hiring a stylist should be on your list.

Read on, then be sure to jump onto Aisle Style’s lush website –

Aisle Style

We make ideas come to life with the use of colours, textures, scent, taste, sound, trends, themes or culture and work with a couple to create a space that reflects them. I especially love the little touches that tell a story about the couple, no two weddings are ever the same.

Yes, a Wedding Stylist is focused on the look and feel of a wedding. A wedding planner is focused on the organisation of the day and leading up to it.

It takes so much stress off you and your fiance on the day! It’s all well and good to have family and friends offer to help but it can be stressful when you know they are under a tight timeline and the small details can get missed. Wedding days are to be enjoyed by all, the day goes so quickly and it’s nice to have everyone relaxed and soaking up the moment.

We offer two different services at Aisle Style. ‘Make it Pretty’ is an ‘on the day’ service, we meet with the couple in the lead up to go over all their plans and make it all come together on the day just as they visioned.

Styling by Aisle Style is a much more hands on styling service. We work with our couples to create a mood board, style brief, colour palette, blooms selection, manage invoices, organise logistics and source what is needed to get the right look and then put it all together on the day, from start to finish.

Normally couples already have a location chosen but we can also help with this too.

It can be so overwhelming when you start looking at trends on Pinterest and Instagram, so my best advice is to stay true to what suits you and your fiance, choose a location that reflects your lifestyle (and budget) and talk it through with us. Quite often when a couple come to us and say they have no idea, they already know what attire they would like to wear, or have a favourite flower. Clues like these help us help you find a style to suit.

Hire & Ceremony Packages

This is a tough one, as there are so many gorgeous places to choose from! But for me personally… Meneghello Estate, this place has views forever and beautiful grounds. I do also love Voyager Estate, it is in my opinion classic elegance. But my favourite wedding location are those off the beaten track, on private properties or farms, where the sky literally is the limit.

We’re seeing a lot of requests for metallics and pops of bright colour!

Stationery has also become a huge influence of the tone and theme of an event.

We are loving the hand written calligraphy style fonts that is so popular at the moment. It has such a personalised feel about it, I love it!

Just recently we styled Binny + Nick’s wedding at Voyager, that was picture perfect, did you see the arbor? Amazing! My favourite thing now when styling a wedding is working with our Aisle Style Blooms team, the results have gone to the next level because the artistic licence of a stylist can truly come to life as blooms are such an important part of the overall look.

Here are some of the images from their wedding, and just a sample of what Aisle Style can create for you.

Things to do in Margaret River – Learn to Surf!

When planning your Margaret River wedding you want to ensure your guests have the best time possible. Suggesting a list of “things to do” is a great little way to keep the celebrations going.

Two of the most common attractions tourists associate with the Margaret River region is wine and surf! Your wedding guests will no doubt enjoy some delicious wine when they are down here, (a wine tour is a must) but have you ever thought about getting them into a surf lesson?

They can organise private lessons for a small party and even cater for groups lessons, up to 28 people. Prices start at $50 and all equipment is provided. All you have to do it turn up and the accredited surf coaches will have you surfing like Taj Burrow in no time…
